Four UFGI Faculty Named 2025 UFRF Professors

We are proud to announce that four members of the University of Florida Genetics Institute (UFGI) have been named 2025 University of Florida Research Foundation (UFRF) Professors. This is an honor reserved for UF’s most productive and promising faculty researchers.

The UFRF Professorship is a prestigious three-year award given to faculty who have demonstrated a consistent record of excellence in research, scholarship, and innovation. This recognition comes with a $5,000 annual salary supplement and a one-time $3,000 grant to support continued research efforts. Selections are made based on nominations from department chairs and evaluations of recent accomplishments, including publications, grant funding, awards, and intellectual property development.

Congratulations to the UFGI-affiliated 2025 UFRF Professors:

Dr. Daniel Hahn – Department of Entomology and Nematology

Dr. Linda Bloom – Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Dr. Maurice Swanson – Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology

Dr. Marco Salemi – Department of Pathology, Immunology, and Laboratory Medicine

These four faculty members exemplify the interdisciplinary and cutting-edge research taking place at UFGI, with work spanning molecular biology, neurogenetics, infectious diseases, and more.

We congratulate Drs. Hahn, Bloom, Swanson, and Salemi on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to their continued impact on the scientific community.
