About Our Faculty

More than 220 University of Florida faculty are members of the UFGI. Only individuals holding faculty level appointments can become members. Of the member faculty, more than 30 occupy UFGI space within the Cancer and Genetics Research Complex (CGRC).

Seven different colleges are represented among the UFGI membership, as well as several affiliated units, such as the Florida Museum of Natural History, the Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience, and the Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research. There are 51 departments with faculty members in the UFGI.

The University of Florida Genetics Institute (UFGI) seeks to promote excellence in the areas of genetics and genomics at the University of Florida.  All University of Florida faculty whose scholarship aligns with the mission of the UFGI are welcome to apply for membership. Members are expected to maintain a productive research program in an area broadly pertaining to genetics and genomics and to pursue multi-disciplinary approaches in their research. Collaborative studies, whether with other UFGI members, UF faculty outside of the UFGI, or investigators at other institutions, are strongly encouraged. See the full list of members.
